The flying Fiji got off to a winning start at the Men’s Rugby 7’s tournament at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

The gold medallist from Rio 2016, Fiji kicked off the tournament against the host nation Japan who rallied together by taking a 14-12 half-time lead and a seven-point margin, midway through the second half.

New Zealand oust Korea

However, the Fijians came through before the final whistle to win it 24-19. Their second match against Canada was also won by them 28 points to 14.

World No. 1 seed New Zealand stormed past South Korea by 50-5 and went on to beat Argentina later in the evening.

Springboks beat Ireland

Silver medallist from Rio 2016, Great Britain, beat Canada 24-0 and finished off the day without conceding any points after their second win over Japan.

The bronze medal winner at Rio Olympics, South Africa had a 33-14 win over Ireland. They also beat Kenya 14-5 in the final game for the day.
