Issuing a press release, Tokyo Cement Lanka PLC, the manufacturer of Tokyo Super and Nippon Cement, announced the novel price of the cement, yesterday (7).
Accordingly, it said that the 50 kg bags of both cement brands are subject to the maximum retail price (MRP) of Rs. 1,275.
Tokyo Cement Lanka was earlier given permission by the Government of Sri Lanka to import 12,000 metric tonnes (MT) of cement per month as a solution to the existing cement shortage.
However, the company went through importation delays due to the unavailability of cargo carriers in order to ship raw materials as well as manufactured cement and delays in opening letters of credit (LCs) with the banks.
