Total 65 quarantine centres: Thirty-two hotels used as QCs

By Maheesha Mudugamuwa Thirty-two hotels are currently being operated as quarantine centres (QCs) out of the total 65 quarantine centres managed by the tri-forces, according to Army Spokesman Brig. Chandana Wickramasinghe. At present, there are 7,058 persons in 65 tri-service-managed QCs which are currently operational. According to the National Operation Centre for Prevention of Covid-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), 1,580 PCR tests were carried out and the total PCR tests conducted so far in the country stands at 211,090. In addition, five Covid-19-positive cases have left the hospitals after full recovery. A total of 22 infected persons connected to the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Centre are still under treatment. In total, 32,816 quarantined persons have left for their homes as of yesterday (26). Twelve persons were confirmed positive for Covid-19 as of last morning and among them were 11 expatriates from India under quarantine at the Air Force Palaly QC and one expatriate from India under quarantine at the Paradise Dambulla Hotel QC. The total number of infected detainees as of 6 a.m. yesterday (26) at the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre stands at 629. Of them, 508 individuals are detained under rehabilitation, 67 are staff members, five are guest staffers, 48 are family members and close associates, and one person got in contact with the infected patient from the Welikada Prison, according to the NOCPCO. Flight UL 104 from the Maldives with three passengers on Tuesday (25), flight EK 648 from Dubai with 21 passengers, flight QR 668 from Doha, Qatar with 17 passengers, flight 6E 9034 from Chennai with 48 civil sea marshals, flight UL 218 with 277 passengers from Doha, and flight UL 1506 from Germany with 102 passengers arrived in Colombo and all of them were referred to QCs managed by tri-services.
