The Government is to take a decision today (30) on whether to continue with railway services amidst dwindling commuters.
Minister of Passenger Transport Management Mahinda Amaraweera said the Government had been deliberating the
matter.
“The issue was brought to our attention and we have been discussing whether to discontinue railway services. We will be taking a decision on Thursday (today) morning,” Amaraweera said.
He further said that following the Covid-19 lockdown, the train services had almost come to a standstill due to a lack of commuters.
