Hurricanes 43 – 06 Blues: The Hurricanes racked up a record 43-6 win over the Western Force in their third game of the Super Rugby Trans-Tasman tournament on Friday (28). Flyhalf Domingo Miotti put the Force in the lead early in the game with two successful penalties.
Crusaders 54 – 28 Waratahs: The Crusaders thumped the Waratahs 54-28 in Saturday’s (29) opening game at the WIN Stadium in Wollongong. The Crusaders opened the scoring after just eight minutes when Will Jordan drew in the last defender and off-loaded to Mitchell Drummond for the try.
Blues 38 – 10 Brumbies: Blues keep their winnings run in tact as they beat Brumbies 38-10 at the Eden Park on Saturday. The hosts started off with a try though a lineout drive from five-metre-out with Kurt Eklund crashing over. Brumbies also got on board when Noah Lolesio added three points through a successful penalty.
Reds 40 – 34 Chiefs: The Queensland Reds held off a late surge from the Reds to win 40-34 at the Country Bank Stadium, Queensland. The Reds started off strongly with an early penalty try when Chase Tiatia made a deliberate knock on and the referee awarded the try with the help of the TMO (Television Match Official). Finally, Reds held on strongly in the last five minutes to secure the first win for an Aussie team in the Trans-Tasman Tournament.
