Travel restrictions in force until 21 June

The ongoing travel restrictions which were scheduled to be lifted at 4.00am on 14 June will be extended. Accordingly, Army Commander and Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of Covid Outbreak (NOCPCO) General Shavendra Silva stated that the restrictions will continue to be in force until 4.00am on 21 June. However, it was noted that essential services, apparel factories, major construction sites, weekly village fair (Sathi Pola), agricultural and organic fertilizer production activities will be allowed to function under health guidelines. The Commander also informed that the dates for opening banks and dedicated economic centres will be notified in due course.
