The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has been brought under the purview of the Ministry of Defence through an extraordinary gazette notice issued by President Maithripala Sirisena.
The gazette was issued yesterday with the change taking place with effect from 7 March.
Also, through the extraordinary gazette, the financially troubled SriLankan Airlines and its subsidiaries have been brought under the purview of the Ministry of Finance.
Meanwhile, the Mahinda Rajapaksa National Tele-cinema Park (Ranmihithenna) has been brought under the Minister of Housing, Construction, and Cultural Affairs.
The President has also brought Sri Lanka Telecom PLC and its subsidiaries and associates under the Minister of Telecommunications, Foreign Employment, and Sports.
