Two persons have been arrested by the Colombo Organized Crime Division for attempting to extort Rs. 500,000 from a monk at a temple in the Moratuwa area.
The suspects were arrested following a special operation, police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
The suspects were arrested in the Moratuwa area yesterday (06) while seeking a sum of Rs. 2.5 million.
The suspects are to be produced before the Moratuwa Magistrate's Court today (07).
