Two arrested for cultivating cannabis inside Yala National Park; 150,000 plants destroyed

Two suspects have been arrested for cultivating cannabis inside the Yala National Park yesterday and the police have destroyed 150,000 cannabis plants of the cultivation, police said. Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the suspects were arrested during a special operation conducted by the police officers of Gonaganara, Athimale, Dambagalla and Siyambalanaduwa. He said at least 20 anti-narcotic operations were conducted yesterday. In one such operation, the STF personnel from the Kebithigollewa have arrested two suspects at Irattaperiyakulam in Vavuniya while transporting 18 kilograms of Kerala Ganja. The suspects are residents of Dematagoda and Mattakkuliya.
