From the Silva camp, names have been nominated for all seven posts. Those names are Silva (for the post of President), Jayantha Dharmadasa and Ravin Wickramaratne (for the two Vice President posts), Mohan de Silva, Chryshantha Kapuwatte, Lasantha Wickramasinghe, and Sujeewa Godaliyedda. The nominees are identically the present executive committee of SLC but for its current Assistant Treasurer Lalith Rambukwella. It is Godaliyedda who is coming in for Rambukwella in the new nomination list of the Silva camp. Only three names have been nominated by the Mathivanan camp. They are Mathivanan (President), Bandula Warnapura (Vice President), and Nishantha Ranatunga (Secretary). “We can win with over 100 votes,” Silva told The Morning Sports before giving nominations yesterday. “We have put the big three into the race. Like in ICC (International Cricket Council), this big three are for SLC,” said Mathivanan. Protests, if any, could be made with election committee before 5 March. The SLC AGM is scheduled for 20 May. In for the first time in recent history of SLC election, a Buddhist monk, Battaramulla Seelarathana thero, gave his nomination yesterday for the post of Vice President. The thero is representing St. Anthony’s Sports Club, Wanni.
