Two chief jailors of Negombo Prison surrender to court

Two chief jailors Sarath Bandara and Nishantha Senarathna of the Negombo Prison have surrendered to court today. The duo surrendered to court following a warrant issued for providing special facilities to inmates in the Negombo Prison. On 22nd of July the Negombo Magistrate's Court issued an arrest warrants on 4 prison officials over an ongoing investigation into allegations of mobile phones and other items being provided to inmates. The other two officials are Negombo prison Jailor Kalinga Kaluaggala and interdicted Superintendent of Police (SP) Anurudha Sampayo. Kaluaggala was arrested and remanded after surrendering to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on the 24th of July.
