Two million more doses of Sinopharm brought to Sri Lanka

A stock of 2 million doses of Sinopharm vaccines made in China has been brought to Sri Lanka. The consignment was brought to Sri Lanka by two planes from Beijing at around 5.30 am today (22). The vaccine consignment was purchased by the State Pharmaceutical Corporation. Accordingly, the total number of Sinopharm vaccines imported to Sri Lanka is 9.1 million, said Minister of State Prof. Channa Jayasumana. Out of the total number of vaccines received in the country today, 400,000 doses are to be distributed to the Kurunegala District and 275,000 doses to the Galle District. It is also planned to provide 200,000 doses each for the Matara, Badulla and Ratnapura districts, 100,000 doses each for the Puttalam, Polonnaruwa, Nuwara Eliya, Moneragala, Ampara and Batticaloa districts and 125,000 doses for the Hambantota district, he said. . The Director General of Health, Dr. Asela Gunawardena stated that another stock of Sinopharm and Pfizer vaccines will be delivered to Sri Lanka on the 26th.
