The Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) of the Police has arrested two more suspects who were involved in the posting of a video on the internet of Easter Sunday terror attacks' mastermind Zahran Hashim with a group of people, hours after the bombings on 21 April 2019. Police Media Spokesman Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ajith Rohana said today that they were the final two of the group that had been exiled from Qatar after being detained there over extremist and terrorist activities. One suspect is a 28-year-old man while the other is a 29-year-old man. Both were residents of Kattankudy. They have been arrested for spreading Zahran’s extremist ideologies on the internet. “They have created a WhatsApp group called ‘One Umma’ and it is reported that extremist ideologies have been propagated in various ways from Qatar. These people have left Sri Lanka and have been working in Qatar. Later, according to our information, they were deported from Qatar on 21 November and sent to Sri Lanka,” DIG Rohana said.
