UL 504 was never at a risk of colliding mid-air: SriLankan Airlines

SriLankan Airlines has addressed the reports currently circulating on media about flight UL 504 avoiding a possible mid-air collision with another aircraft, and has denied that the aircraft was at risk of a mid-air collision with another airline on the 13th of June, noting that the pilots were able to safely commandeer the flight without an incident. This was made known via a statement from SriLankan Airlines today (15). "SriLankan Airlines would like to address the reports currently circulating on media about flight UL 504 avoiding a possible mid-air collision with another aircraft. SriLankan Airlines confirms that its pilots operating UL 504, which departed from London to Colombo on 13 June 2022, were able to safely commandeer the flight without an incident. Contrary to news reports, SriLankan confirms that UL 504 was not at risk of a mid-air collision with another aircraft at any point," the statement read. It further noted that the vigilance of the pilots and the state-of-the-art communication and surveillance system onboard the aircraft had enabled safe passage for UL 504. "SriLankan Airlines commends the timely action of the pilots operating UL 504, which ensured the safety of all passengers, crew and equipment onboard UL 504," the statement concluded.
