UN Secretary General outraged over Easter bombings

United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres has issued a statement expressing his outrage on the terrorist attacks of churches and hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday.

“This day is sacred for Christians around the world, we must recall the sanctity of all places of worship,” he said.

Further, He hopes that the perpetrators will be swiftly brought to justice.

Guterres has commended “the leadership demonstrated by the authorities and unity of the people in Sri Lanka in the wake of the attacks.”

The Secretary-General “expresses his deepest condolences to the families of the victims, the people and Government of Sri Lanka, and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured”.

Antonio Guterres reiterates the support and solidarity of the United Nations with the people and the Government of Sri Lanka in this difficult moment for the nation.
