University teachers join in Teacher-Principal TU protests

A protest was staged in Nawala by the Teacher-Principal Trade Unions, along with University teachers yesterday (05). The protest which was in front of the Open University in Nawala required police intervention due to the congestion caused by the protest. "We will continue our struggle until they receive a proper solution to their problems. No one can silence us by any means," said Dr Mahim Mendis from The Federation of University Teachers Association. Meanwhile, General Secretary to the Ceylon Teachers Union Joseph Stalin said that payments needs to be paid according to the Prime Ministers subcommittee. "All Universities have joined in our struggle. We wish to tell the rulers of this country that they have to pay us based on the recommendations of the Prime Ministers subcommittee," said Stalin.
