The UNP Working Committee has cancelled the memberships of 54 persons who obtained nomination under the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) to contest the 2020 General Election.
The Party has further expelled 61 UNP Local Government members for supposedly not supporting the party during the ongoing election campaign.
Letters are to be sent to respective individuals informing them of their expulsion, the UNP said.
The names of the suspended members will be made public after the letters are issued, the party added.
