A motion by UNP MPs and other parliamentarians submitted to Speaker today requesting a Parliamentary Select Committee be appointed to look into whether Former President, MP Mahinda Rajapakse and other Parliamentarians who obtained membership of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna have lost their seats in terms of Article 99(13)(a) of the Constitution.
The motion also requests Speaker to refrain from recognizing MP Rajapaksa as Leader of the Opposition until the determination by the PSC.
