UNP says too busy to take action against Wijeyadasa

The United National Party (UNP) is too busy to take disciplinary action against their party Parliamentarian Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe who pledged support to Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa last week.

Leader of the House and UNP Minister Lakshman Kiriella told The Sunday Morning that the party had no time to take action against UNP MP Rajapakshe.

“We are busy campaigning. We don’t have time for these things. Anyway, he left us months ago. This is not a new development despite the Opposition claiming so,” he said.

He went on to say that Rajapakshe’s fate would be decided at the next parliamentary election.

“The parliamentary election will follow soon after the presidential elections. Then, we shall see what happens,” he said.

MP Rajapakshe on Friday (18) extended his support to SLPP candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
