UNP suspends Ranjan’s membership

The United National Party (UNP) has temporarily suspended parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake’s membership.

This was announced by UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam during a press briefing today(14).

Last week Kariyawasam said the party would take disciplinary action against Ramanayake over his leaked audio case.

A leaked audio clip purportedly between Ramanayake and Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe had surfaced on social media.

The audio is one of the several incriminating telephone recordings which were reportedly found in CDs and DVDs seized by the Police from Ramanayake’s house last month.
