The upcoming week would be crucial and decisive in terms of COVID-19 situation in the country, Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera today said.
He said the people’s interactions usually increase during the week leading up to Christmas and then towards the New Year.
“We should prevent interactions and movements as much as possible and prevent large gatherings. If there was even one COVID-19 positive person at a gathering, everyone can get infected. We should act in a responsible manner as our behaviour will make an impact of the COVID-19 situation in the country,” Dr. Samaraweera said.
He said that the people in Colombo usually leave for other areas during the festive season and therefore, Rapid Antigen Tests would be conducted on those who leave Colombo from today.
