Upul Tharanga records statement with Ministry

Former Sri Lankan Cricketer Upul Tharanga recorded a statement with the Sports Ministry this morning. Tharanga was summoned to the special unit for investigation of sports-related offenses over the match-fixing allegations made by former Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage on the 2011 World Cup finals between Sri Lanka and India. Tharanga had arrived at the Ministry at around 10.15 am this morning (01) and left the Ministry at 12.30 pm. Tharanga was initially requested to appear before the Unit yesterday(30). Former cricket captain and the head of the cricket selection committee at the time of the alleged incident, Aravinda de Silva, also recorded a statement with the Ministry yesterday. He left the Ministry after recording a statement for over 5 hours.
