The United States of America has offered an additional USD 32 million in aid to families suffering from the economic crisis and has also extended a hand in technical assistance for economic policy reforms for negotiations between Sri Lanka and the International Monetary Fund.
This was made known via a letter by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, addressed to Foreign Minister Ali Sabry today (30).
"I know that our embassy worked closely with you when you were Minister of Justice and Minister of Finance. We look forward to continuing our joint work on economic issues and on issues of good governance, human rights and national reconciliation," the letter stated.
It further congratulated Foreign Minister Sabry and President Ranil Wickremesinghe on their new appointments and mentioned that Blinken looked forward to working closely with President Wickremesinghe and the cabinet through this challenging period Sri Lanka is facing.
