A United States Senator has written to President Maithripala Sirisena raising concerns over the decision to remove Ranil Wickremesinghe as Prime Minister.
Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) said that the President's actions have placed the rule of law and democracy in Sri Lanka at risk.
He urged the President to accept the results of the no-confidence motions in Parliament, in accordance with the Sri Lankan constitution and the rule of law.
