It was revealed at a special meeting held at the Ministry of Education between the Minister of Education, Prof. G. L. Peiris and the US Ambassador Alaina B. Teplitz that the US Government is ready to extend its full support to the development of the education system in Sri Lanka.
US Ambassador Alaina B. Teplitz stated that the US Embassy will assist in promoting English education in the Sri Lankan school system and in designing and implementing English education courses for students undergoing training at the National Apprenticeship and Industrial Training Authority (NITA).
The Ambassador further stated that the United States would extend its full support to the new government's development initiatives in the education system in the future and to provide information on areas where assistance is required.US to support English education in Sri Lanka
