US top diplomat meets President, PM and TNA

Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells today(14) called on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. Wells  in a twitter message today said that the US looks forward to strengthening ties by expanding cooperation on economics and trade, counter-terrorism, security, transitional justice and human rights to benefits both countries.  A Meeting had also taken place with Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Leader R. Sampanthan and  MP M.A. Sumanthiran where discussions took place on the importance of an inclusive government in creating the best conditions for sustainable economic growth. Wells is currently on a South Asian tour from January 13-22 and is set to visit India, and Pakistan in the following days.
