Former MP and Southern Provincial Councilor Ven. Baddegama Samitha Thero passed away last night in Matara (29).
This was confirmed by the private hospital where the Thero was admitted. He was 69 years of age at the time of his demise.
The cause of death was identified as Covid-19 pneumonia complications.
A few days before his death, he had been discharged from the Karapitiya Hospital after recovering from Covid-19. However, he was later admitted to a Matara private hospital due to respiratory problems.
