Waiting till next wednesday to elect a new interim President for Sri Lanka might be too late, according to Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Dr. Harsha De Silva.
Taking to a tweet, the MP expressed that the speaker of Parliament need not wait until the 15th to make the announcement if President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has resigned.
“He can make it immediately and call for nominations and we can elect a new President of Sri Lanka by Sunday. Waiting till next Wednesday might be way too late,” the MP said.
