Drinking water to all by 2024: PM

By the end of the year 2024, all the necessary arrangements have been made to provide drinking water to all, stated Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today (18) at the opening of the second phase of the Kelani River South Bank Irrigation Project.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the second phase of the Kelani South Bank Water Supply Project to the public by activating water purifiers. On this occasion, Nishantha Ranatunga, Chairman, National Water Supply and Drainage Board, presented a collective plan outlining the objectives and plans of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board for the period 2021-2025.

It is expected that this project would provide more than 120,000 new water connections, supplying water to 750,000 people in 320 Grama Niladhari divisions.
