WHO, India & China will provide part of the vaccines required for free; we will purchase the rest: President

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said today the WHO, China and India will provide a part of the COVID-19 vaccines required for Sri Lanka for free of charge while the rest will be purchased by Sri Lanka. Speaking at another installment of Gama Samaga Pilisandrak at Uhana in Lathugala, the President said measures are being taken to bring down COVID-19 vaccines immediately. “Discussions are ongoing with India, the World Health Organisation, China and Russia to get vaccines. I personally wrote to the Prime Minister of India and the President of China requesting to provide us vaccines as soon as all measures are finalised. The WHO, India and China will give us a part of vaccines for free and the rest we will buy,” he said.
