Who will represent Sri Lanka in Tokyo 2020?

    The 32nd Summer Olympics was scheduled to be held from 24 July to 9 August 2020 in Tokyo, Japan and was postponed in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now it is scheduled to be held from 23 July to 8 August 2021 in Tokyo. Despite being rescheduled for 2021, the event retains the Tokyo 2020 name for marketing and branding purposes. 6. Matthew Abeysinghe Swimming Most likely to qualify – as a wild card (yet to be confirmed)
7. Aniqah Gaffoor Swimming Most likely to qualify – as a wild card (yet to be confirmed)
8. Nilani Rathnayaka Athletics –  Women’s 3,000m Steeplechase Qualified (from qualification rankings – 39 out of 45)
9. Yupun Abeykoon Athletics – Men’s 100m Has opportunity to qualify from qualification rankings – 50 out of 56)
10. Player to be nominated shortly Wrestling Wild card  
11. Player to be nominated shortly Judo Wild card
   * Four athletes have so far qualified to represent SL in Tokyo 2020 * Seven more are awaiting confirmation * Out of the total 11, five will be wild card entries * Deadline for Tokyo 2020 qualification is 29 June 2021
