Will close schools in other districts if COVID situation gets out of hand: Education Ministry

The Secretary to the Ministry of Education Prof. Kapila Perera today (27) stated that they would constantly monitor the pandemic situation outside the Western Province to ensure that no COVID outbreak will take place, and will act to close these schools accordingly. The Governor of the North Central Province informed that 13 schools in Anuradhapura were also closed due to the rise in COVID patients. Meanwhile, he stated that the closure of schools in the Kegalle District under the purview of the Sabaragamuwa Province was done in consultation with the Ministry by the Governor of the Province Tikiri Kobbekaduwa. Yesterday, the Ministry of Education released a statement citing that all schools in the Western Province would be closed until the 30th of April due to the rise in COVID patients
