State Minister of Epidemiology and COVID Disease Control Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle states that the country could be locked down in the future if necessary.
Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today, the Minister of State stated that decisions will be taken after studying the epidemiological situation in the country.
“In the face of Covid, epidemiological decisions are made, not political. Therefore, I will close on the need for experts in this regard. We may not even agree to lockdown the country unnecessarily. If necessary, the power to close at the Grama Niladhari Division level can be exercised by talking to the Regional Director of Health and the Government Agent. However, instructions have been given to inform the Director General. Therefore, Grama Niladhari Divisions will be closed on demand. If necessary, the country will have to close," she said.
