Will remain committed to visa and consular services says Indian HC

02 Aug 2021

In response to several requests from Sri Lankan citizens with regard to visa and consular services, the Indian High Commission in Colombo stated that it will remain committed to service these requests in the best possible way. The High Commission notes that according to official sources, the number of COVID related cases and fatalities have unfortunately seen an increase and the presence of globally prevalent Delta variant of the Corona Virus is also established. “Necessary steps have been taken to comply stringently with COVID-appropriate attendance and behaviour at the workplace in the larger interest of public health. This may in some cases imply more time for delivery of public services, including those related to consular and visa matters,” it stated. In line with this, it was mentioned that  individuals wishing to avail of visa and consular services from the High Commission are requested to plan accordingly, keeping the above in mind. The High Commission further reiterated its strong commitment to further strengthening the age-old, close and friendly ties between the two counties by promoting people-to-people exchanges through safe and COVID-appropriate travel.
