WINGS – an exhibition in aid of renovating a school

In this era of smartphones, we take a lot of photos on a daily basis of a multitude of things. But for Kumal Udamulla and Illuminate, photography is not just a hobby. It is a channel to raise funds and uplift the facilities of remote schools in Sri Lanka. A student of Gateway College, Rajagiriya, Kumal’s keen interest in bird photography has accumulated a good collection of rare birds over the last five years. 

His exhibition titled ‘WINGS’ which will be held tomorrow (24 August 2019) at the Colombo Public Library Auditorium from 9am to 6pm, and will raise funds towards renovating the science laboratory of the Katuwalagoda Kanishta Vidyalaya in Welipenna.

Kumal Udamulla is a year 13 student at Gateway College Rajagiriya. He first became interested in photography in 2012 while on a trip to Knuckles range. 

Katuwalagoda Kanishta Vidyalaya is a small school offering education from grade 1 to 10 and with 146 students, in the village of Weilpenna 80 km from Colombo.
