Wuhan students to be discharged from Diyatalawa quarantine facility tomorrow
The 33 Sri Lankan students from Wuhan, China will be discharged from the Diyatalawa quarantine facility tomorrow (14), Army Spokesperson Brig. Chandana Wickramasinghe told The Sunday Morning.
He said the students will be subject to a final medical checkup tomorrow(13) before they are taken to Colombo.
Wickramasinghe said the students will be brought to the Army Headquarters in Akuregoda to meet Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva.
He said following the meeting the students will return to their homes.
Asked what will become to the quarantine facility, he said it will be kept open for time being for any coronavirus related emergencies.
The 33 Lankan students who were stranded in Wuhan were airlifted on the 31st of January by a special Sri Lankan charter flight.
The UL-1423 special charter flight landed at the Mattala International Airport(MIA) on the 1st of February and the students were taken to the Diyatalawa quarantine facility.
The students were kept under a 14-day observation period under the close supervision of medical consultants, epidemiologists and other staffers.
