H.A. Inula Uthsara Hettiarachchi is a five-year-old from Polonnaruwa who is a talented musician and actor. He started learning to play the piano when he was four years old and says that his dream is to learn how to play the electric guitar.
Q: Inula, can you tell us more about yourself?
A: My school is JMC Polonnaruwa and sometimes people at home call me Shah Rukh Khan. I think it’s because I look handsome. My hobbies are playing, riding bicycles, watching cartoons, and playing with animals.
Q: Your mother tells us that you are a talented musician. Is that true?
A: That’s true. My favourite thing to do is to sing while I play the piano. Everyone says that I sing beautifully.
Q: How did you learn to play the organ?
A: My loku thaththa (uncle) taught me how to play. He is my father’s elder brother and his name is Ravi Hettiarachchi. He plays for the musical band ‘Sanidhapa’. Whenever he gets free time, he tries to train me.
Q: Do you have an ambition Inula?
A: Yes. I want to become an actor who can sing beautifully as well. I want to become a talented entertainer like Sajitha Anthony. I love his work. I have met him.
Q: Have you taken part in any drama or theatre productions?
A: Yes, in a few advertisements, music videos, and some kids’ television programmes too.
Q: Is there anyone you want to thank?
A: My mother and my father. Yohani Hettiarachchi akka for looking out for opportunities for me. Also, Janaranjana Pathirana for the support he gives.
