Yugadanavi deal: Constituent Party Leaders meeting with Prez today

24 Oct 2021

The Parliamentary group and Alliance leaders are planning to meet today to raise issues of concern including those on the Yugadanavi deal. The meeting is due to be held at the President's residence tonight (24). Further to the rejection from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to discuss matters pertaining to the Yugadanavi-New Fortress deal, the Constituent Party Leaders met yesterday where some leaders expressed that the meeting with President Rajapaksa will indeed take place. Further contradicting some media reports that governing alliance leaders were planning to boycott this evening's meeting, Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila told The Morning that this is false and that the meeting will continue as planned. "We will be attending the meeting with the President tonight as planned. There isn't absolute truth in social media," stated Gammanpila. Further clarifying that the boycott of the meeting at the President's residence is indeed false, Minister of Water Supply Vasudeva Nanayakkara told The Morning that the Yugadanavi deal will be brought up at the meeting tonight. "The Yugadanavi deal will be discussed at the meeting tonight. If incase the President does refuse to discuss details of the deal, the 2022 budget will be next on our agenda," said Nanayakkara
