1,027 individuals were arrested yesterday (11) for failing to follow quarantine regulations, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated.
According to DIG Rohana, 3,153 individuals and 1,024 vehicles were inspected by the police at 14 entry and exit points of the Western Province.
91 people were prevented from attempting to cross the provincial borders, in violation of ongoing travel restrictions.
He also stated that seven quarantine law violators have been taken into custody in a special drone operation carried out at the Sinhapura area in Thalangama yesterday.
Since 30 October 2020, 30,042 arrests have been made in connection with flouting quarantine regulations.
