Approximately 130 anti-narcotic operations have been conducted islandwide by the Sri Lanka Police during a period of 24 hours, stated Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana today. The Wadduwa police has arrested a 32-year-old in Pinhena Panadura in possession of 5g of heroin, following which the suspect was produced in the Magistrate Court. The police were able to obtain a detention period of seven days for the suspect. In addition, one person was arrested in Mattakkuliya by the Colombo North Crime Detective Bureau in possession of 5g of heroin. In the same area, two suspects were arrested with 5g heroin and 2kilograms of cannabis. Further, in the Minuwangoda area, 25 suspects were arrested in connection with the brewing of illicit alcohol.
