400,000 Pfizer doses arrive through COVAX

Another shipment of Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines, provided by the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) facility, arrived in Sri Lanka today (Sep. 30).

Sri Lanka is expected to receive 400,000 more Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine doses tomorrow as well, State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana said.

Just yesterday (29), The Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena confirmed that the Pfizer vaccine has been recommended as a booster dose to citizens falling under multiple categories as listed below:

  1. Citizens over the age of 60
  2. Citizens between the age of 30 and 60 with disabilities, cancer or kidney ailments
  3. Health and frontline workers
