43 persons from the village of Pumadiya in Abhayapura Polonnaruwa have been directed to quarantine facilities.
The measure has been taken after a villager tested positive for COVID-19 at the Poḷonnaruwa Hospital on Wednesday.
After the case was reported, authorities took measures to seal off 12 villages in the Lankapura Divisional Secretariat area in Poḷonnaruwa.
Entry to and exit from these villages have been completely prohibited.
The Army and Police have been deployed to ensure villagers adhere to rules imposed by the government.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in stands at 232.
