500 mn allocated for gyms transferred to walking paths: Namal

A sum of Rs. 500 mn which was allocated to build gymnasiums in over 100 cities in Sri Lanka has been returned back to the Ministry of Finance in exchange for funds for projects such as walking paths, Minister Namal Rajapksa said.

He made these statements while addressing the media in Weerawila yesterday (14).

Rajapksa cited the prevailing pandemic situation as the reason for not going ahead with the establishment of gyms.

“We have to think of the physical wellbeing of our citizens. Therefore, we are trying our level best to manage these matters,” he said.
