Nine new envoys comprising seven ambassadors and two high commissioners (HCs) have presented credentials to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the President’s House yesterday (1), the President’s Media Division (PMD) announced.
The new ambassadors and high commissioners were appointed by Denmark, Estonia, Pakistan, Gambia, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Austria, Iceland, and Israel.
The Pakistani High Commissioner is based in Sri Lanka, while the Philippine Ambassador is based in Dhaka, Bangladesh and the other envoys are based in New Delhi, India.
The new envoys are as follows:
- Ambassador of Denmark – Freddy Svane
- Ambassador of Estonia – Katrin Kivi
- High Commissioner of Pakistan – Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Umar Farooq Burki
- Gambian High Commissioner – Mustapha Jawara
- Ambassador of Kazakhstan – Nurlan Zhalgasbayev
- Ambassador of the Philippines – Alan Deniega
- Ambassador of Austria –Katharina Wieser
- Ambassador of Iceland – Gudni Bragason
- Ambassador of Israel – Naor Gilon
