95 Navy personnel have tested positive for the coronavrus so far, Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said today (26).
The Army Commander said amoung the 95 navy personnel, 68 are from the Navy camp in Welisara and 27 are those on leave.
A naval officer who returned home had tested positive for Covid-19 at the Welikanda Hospital on the Wednesday (22) after he was suddenly taken ill.
Following the incident, PCR tests were conducted on all navy officials at the Navy camp in Welisara.
The Navy personnel infected with Covid-19 are thought to have been infected during the raids in the Suduwella, Ja-Ela area recently.
The Sri Lanka Navy base at Welisara was declared an isolated area on Thursday (23).
