Admission of students to Grade one postponed to February
The Ministry of Education has decided to postpone the admission of students to the Grade one for the year 2021 at government schools till second week of February.
Education Minister Professor G. L. Pieris said children who qualify for the grade one are usually called to the schools around the second week of January, but the process has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns.
He said this was due to the fact that the final documents of the students who have been selected for the grade one of some leading schools have not been published yet.
He also said these schools have not been able to complete the syllabus scheduled for last year grade one students.
