Arjuna Mahendran changes name: AG informs Court

The Attorney General (AG) has informed court that Former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran has changed his name. The AG said that the  INTERPOL had informed that Arjun Mahendran had changed his name to Harjuna Alexander. Former Central Bank Governor is a prime suspect in the infamous Central Bank Treasury Bonds scam. Arjuna Mahendran, a Singapore national of Sri Lankan origin, was accused in 2015 of passing sensitive information to his bond-dealer son-in-law Arjun Aloysius, to make millions in undue profits. Mahendran had been indicted in June last year before the Permanent High Court at Bar for causing losses of over US$11 million to the state. Mahendran is said to be residing in Singapore after fleeing Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka Government’s last October sent a request to the Government of Singapore for Mahendran's extradition.
