Areas in Beruwala (Pannila & Cheenakotuwa) & Akurana in Kandy have been re-opened today after they were declared isolated areas, Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva said.
The areas were placed under lockdown after COVID-19 infections were reported.
Entry to and exit from these areas were completely prohibited. The Army and Police were deployed to ensure villagers adhere to rules imposed by the government.
The Akurana area was declared as an isolated area March 29, while similar restrictions were imposed in Beruwala on April 14.
