Chatura Kumaratunga, the Commissioner of Ayurveda stated today that approval has not been given for the newly launched cinnamon cigarette 'Lionheart'.
He said that 'Lionheart' - the company that manufactures cigarettes, has formally requested approval from them.
The product was launched at the Kingsbury Hotel on March 17.
Minister of Industries Wimal Weerawansa was severely criticised for promoting smoking during the event.
Speaking at the event, the Minister said that although many State Institutions backed by other Companies are attempting to prevent the success of this new venture, he as the minister of Industries, would support and help promote the new cigarette.
