Continuous rainfall for over 12 hours has caused flooding in several low-lying areas of Ratnapura, including Kuruvita, Elapatha, and Kiriella.

According to the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), paddy fields cultivated for the Maha season have been severely affected, while several roads and gem mines in the region have been submerged, disrupting transport and local livelihoods.
